Below is information for HCDE students who are beginning their career search. It is by no means an exhaustive list! Judy Ramey, HCDE internship coordinator, is a good resource should you have questions. Setting up informational interviews with HCDE alumni and others in the field is also suggested. It is never too early to start networking!

HCDE Career Network: HCDE has partnered with AfterCollege.com to create a career network that brings exclusive employment opportunities directly to HCDE students. Additionally, HCDE students can create professional profiles that are searchable to employers and to network with HCDE alumni.

HCDE Career Events: HCDE works with alumni and members of our Corporate Affiliates Program to provide students and alumni with events related to career development. Check back to this page regularly for upcoming events.

HCDE Internship Database: This resource was developed by an alumnus so that employers could advertise HCDE-related internships directly to students in our department. The positions entered into this database are sent by email to the HCDE student list, then posted on the website.

HCDE Blog: This resource has good career resources and job opportunities for on campus, as well as current events, and academic updates.

College of Engineering Co-op program: COE has a free, searchable Co-op database of paid jobs and internships. Co-op is a great way to get hands-on experience in your field, get paid, and earn credits toward your degree. Unlike an internship, where you are working but not necessarily getting paid or earning credits, Co-op is a structured program with specific requirements for the student and employer.

UW Career Center: The UW Career Center uses a web-based system called HuskyJobs to manage job and internship listings. Hundreds of job listings are received each month and postings are updated on a daily basis. A resources for UW students and alumni.

UW Grants and Funding Information Service (GFIS): A blog listing grants and assistantships for UW graduate students.
